Man Caught With Pound Of Pot In I-87 Stop

A 19-year-old man was allegedly found with a pound of marijuana and several grams of concentrated marijuana and arrested during a traffic stop on I-87 in the Town of Newburgh.

State Police stopped the vehicle on Monday, Jan. 21 around 8:30 a.m. for a traffic violation. Police’s interview with the driver, Yousef O. Kashef, 19, of Forest Hill, established probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle. Police then discovered approximately one pound of marijuana and 15.3 grams of concentrated marijuana.

Kashef was taken into custody, transported and processed at SP Newburgh. He faces the following charges:

  • Third-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a Class F felony
  • Unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation
  • Vehicle and traffic violations

Kashef was ticketed and released. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Newburgh Court on Monday, Jan. 28.
